It happened during the 1986 World Cup™ Quarter-Finals in Mexico City, Argentina v. England. He scored a phenomenal goal; later, he would claim that he had a little help from “La Mano de Dios.” But then, he received the ball again, in his own half. He passed one English player. Dos. Tres. He danced a mambo down the field, la pelota as his partner. Quattro. Cinque.
This goal was later voted 'The Goal of the Century.' Argentina went on to win the World Cup™ and Maradona was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. He had almost single-handedly won the title, contributing 5 goals and 5 assists. He had played every minute of every game - and he had played them in PUMA boots.
Maradona played nearly his entire career in PUMA, from Argentina to Italy and everywhere in between. And so, this PUMA King Diego Finale Collection commemorates PUMA’s successful relationship with the man and the legend, and salutes him on his 50th birthday on October 30, 2010.
